Mix a love for the sea and a love for watercolors and you have Sketches by the Sea. It all started when Marisa Firebaugh was headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the daughter of a fisherman and diver, she spent much of her childhood on the San Francisco Bay, or going up and down Highway 1 of California's Coast. A self-proclaimed wandering sea-lover, ocean shores and nautical scenes inspire the sketches and plein air paintings expressed in her artworks.
In 2015 Marisa took that passion and established Sketches By The Sea to create products that share the joy of sea breezes, salt spray and whimsy found by the seashore. As an ocean lover, she takes great care to create products that are eco-friendly and made with quality. She uses recycled paper in her paper goods line; 100% cotton textiles in her home goods line; and recycled, eco-friendly, or repurposed shipping supplies. And although her roots were in San Francisco, her other half converted Marisa to a Pacific Northwesterner and a sailor. They and their pittie mutt, Alfie currently live in Seattle on a sailboat. And she continues her deep-rooted childhood tradition of going to the shores by packing up paints (and snacks) and heading out to beaches, marinas, and anywhere pretty boats on the Pacific Coast can be found.
