Alton Bucheimer is a trans Filipino glass artist working in the Seattle area. He is the creator and owner of Resonant Glass. He began working with glass in 2009 as a high school intern at Art Of Fire in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He received a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2014, and moved to Seattle shortly after graduating.
Alton started Resonant Glass in February 2023 with the intention of making vibrant, light catching, and well-crafted glass accessible for all homes. He focuses on texture and intricate patterning. He likes to produce work in a "series" format, meaning that the techniques and patterns of the vessels are all similar and relate to each other within the collection of work. He recently created the "Tidbit" series which uses confetti-like pops of color to add a playful touch to the glass works. And, his new "Fluid" series draws inspiration from his own experience with gender and the experiences shared from his LGBTQIA community. With this series he is creating pieces that can both belong in any home and be unapologetically trans.
The Resonant Glass product line merges Alton's playful aesthetic with everyday functional home goods. When he is not blowing glass you can find him working on his home hot shop that he is building in White Center, Washington.
