Hot Cakes is a dessert restaurant that specializes in molten chocolate cakes, dessert sauces, and confections which sell nationally in specialty and grocery stores, as well as online. Hot Cakes was founded at the Seattle farmers markets in 2008 by Autumn Martin, with their namesake product – molten chocolate cake. Every weekend for the next four years cake batter was sold in mason jars for dessert enthusiasts to bake at home- today these are known as their Take & Bake molten cakes!
In 2012, their first dessert restaurant opened on Ballard Avenue, just up the street from the farmers market where it all began. In 2015, their second location opened on Capitol Hill right off of Olive Way. In November of 2020, Hot Cakes was purchased from Autumn by CaraMia and Kevin Murry. Since then, Hot Cakes has remained true to the principles they were originally founded on, while expanding upon their menu and products adding a line of dessert sauces and jars of smoked chocolate chips. In 2024 they opened their 3rd location and production facility nestled within the SoDo Urbanworks community.
