Made famous by the popular NBC sitcom, Parks & Recreation, Galentine’s Day is here to stay. Not only does it give us an excuse to brunch with our besties, but it lends a special sense of VIP girl time to lives often full of work, kids (if you have ‘em or spend a lot of time with them), and obligations that can distract from one of our favorite pastimes: girl talk!
And, while there are countless directions you can take your party (wine tasting, spa night at home, romcom screenings, fondue, elevated grazing), myriad Made In Washington products can be incorporated into the celebration, too. Celebrating your favorite females and your favorite state? We’ll add a whole line of Xs and Os to our enthusiastic “YES!” RSVP—however the invitation arrives.
Keep reading for ways to include Made In Washington in your Galentine’s Day party, tips on games to play, and ideas to treat your hostess. This will be a celebration you’ll want to repeat every year!
So, You’re Throwing a Galentine’s Day Party
You’ve sent out the group text (or individual invitations if you’re feeling extra fancy) and your girlfriends are gathering soon. Now, the real fun begins. Set out the beautiful chocolate boxes full of Fran’s that are as much elegant conversation pieces as they are sumptuous sweets.
Get in a warm and fuzzy mood with dimmed lights and twinkling tea candles in one of our favorite Pink Votives from PNW Glass. You know how most tea candles are unscented? Not Devine Flame’s! Their sampler pack includes twelve scented crystal tea lights that all align to a different body chakra. They include affirmations, too. If they’re out of stock while you’re looking, don’t worry! More are on the way. While you’re shopping, add a few larger vessels from Porter Lane Home (we love their Sweetheart and Amour candles for this particular occasion), and consider the mood successfully set.
Galentine’s Day Party Food
Now, it’s time to start thinking about your menu. As you may know, we are big fans of grazing at Made In Washington. Whether you’re bringing your crew together for brunch or charcuterie (and, pssst, we wrote a whole blog on the latter), we have many options to fill your table. You can shop by category on our website. Here’s how we’d navigate it: We’d start with Smoked Salmon; add Salami & Sausage; pick a few Nuts, Snacks & Crackers; and supplement with Sauces.
Got some gluten-free gal pals? We have them covered, too!
If you’re looking for a pretty board to display your spread, check out our Wag & Wood 12x14 Cherry Charcuterie Board or, for all of us Evergreen State superfans, our Washington State Charcuterie Board. Talk about a conversation starter! Layer them with some swoon-worthy Porter Lane tea towels and graze away, babes.
Sweet tooth starting to ache? Don’t worry—we’re talking about dessert next!
Galentine’s Day Party Desserts
Okay, you knew we’d arrive at our favorite destination: The Galentine’s Day piece de resistance, if you will—the sweets! For added elegance, fan out a selection of Fran’s, spoil them with classic Fleur De Sel Caramels from Jonboy, and make sure you scroll through all the sugary goodness in our always-popular Chocolate, Candy & Cookies category.
Here’s something you may not have considered: Cacao has become pretty popular of late, and we’re all over how this drinking chocolate lends itself so well to slowness and conversation. Add some to your Galentine’s Day party—especially if your guests have never tried it—with Flying Bird’s Especial (pure vanilla bean and sun-dried cane crystals) or Lavender Mint blends. Or, double down and get both! You could even sit in a sister circle while sipping your cacao, legs in lotus, and share something about your life you love. Sky’s the limit for Galentine’s!
Galentine’s Day Party Games
Whether you consider a Galentine’s version of a white elephant gift exchange that keeps you giggling all night, play Pictionary, or give everyone watercolor kits with step-by-step instructions, we know your Galentine’s Day party is going to be a major memory maker.
Get creative with it, ask around, and have fun with all the little logistics. Your besties’ love language is quality time for this event—anything else is the fleur de sel on all those beautiful sweets you’re planning to put out.
Galentine’s Day Party Hostess Gifts
Reading this as an invitee? Consider thanking your hostess with a beautiful pink vase or bud vase edged in gold from new Made In Washington maker Pottery by Eleni. Coffees, teas, lotions, and little chocolates she’ll get to indulge in after you all head home are great options, too. It doesn’t have to be extravagant to be deeply felt.
And, remember: Hugs always go a long way!
We hope we gave you plenty of ideas to work with for your upcoming Galentine’s Day party. We may have even inspired ourselves to throw one! As far as we’re concerned, any reason to show love to our favorite people is a good enough reason to gather.
