Sara Anderson

Seattle, Washington

Sara Anderson’s career is as vibrant as her art. An artist, designer, and author, her colorful cut-paper collages have delighted audiences in books, textiles, ceramics, furniture, and more. Her bold, playful aesthetic has attracted clients such as Bloomingdale’s, Crate & Barrel, the Chicago Art Institute, and New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

After earning her degree from Cornell University, Anderson launched a greeting card line that quickly grew into a nationally recognized design business. She later developed children’s products for Crate & Barrel, and eventually founded her own publishing company, creating books that blend joyful storytelling with imaginative design.

As an author and illustrator, Anderson has received acclaim for her children’s books, including Octopus Oyster Hermit Crab Snail: A Poem of the Sea and A Day at the Market. The latter, inspired by Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market, captures the lively sights, sounds, and spirit of the marketplace in vivid collage. Critics have praised her work for its “vibrant, energetic” illustrations and ability to immerse readers in a colorful, sensory experience.

From Scandinavian design influences to her love of everyday details, Sara Anderson brings creativity, ingenuity, and a celebration of life to everything she creates.
