Ole’Cal Customs officially started in Nov. 2023, but in reality, it began a few years ago when Kelcie and Mindy Burgess set out on a mid-life retirement. They called Washington State home for a brief but lovely 3 months while they camp-hosted up on White Pass while they traveled. When their adventure was all said and done, they had racked up over 15,000 miles and visited 15 states with their truck, travel trailer, and 4 crazy pups before they ended up back home in Northern WI. Although they just couldn't shake the feeling that their hearts truly had never left Washington when they left 18 months prior. Within 6 months of living back home in Wisconsin, they were again packing up shop and heading back to the Pacific Northwest. This time they intended to plant some roots and call Washington state home for good.
Mindy & Kelcie have always been firm believers in listening to life's signs and following the path that is set before you. To always see the positives even in the most negative situations. They both worked in metal fabrication when they moved back to Washington, and with some downtime at work, they started exploring creative designs at home. While doing some economical updates to some recycled pallet boards around the house, an idea was formed, and they quickly decided to invest in themselves.
With all of the creative energy and inspirations from their travels, their ideas started to blossom, and Ole’Cal Customs was born. Their name is dedicated to the memory of their Ole’gal Cali—a pup who was nothing short of one of a kind. They use upcycled pallet boards and sticks from downed trees around the property in Tulalip, where they now call home. The metal is cut at home on their CNC plasma table, and the wood is cut out of their CO2 laser engraver. Then they hand paint to really bring the designs to life. Their inspirations are rooted in the many adventures they have had all around the beautiful, diverse state. Their design aesthetic continues to evolve and flourish, and they are excited to seize the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
"We so much appreciate all the love, support, and excitement our products bring into people's lives. We absolutely love hearing your stories about the memories we bring back with the scenes we create. Washington State holds a special place in so many hearts. It has definitely left an everlasting impression on us too!" Kelcie & Mindy Burgess
