Jax Kaufman Photography
Lynnwood, Washington
Jax Kaufman is a Lynnwood-based photographer with roots in Long Island, New York. After relocating to Washington in 2018, she discovered Made In Washington and joined the Alderwood store team in 2019. She quickly connected with the company’s mission of supporting local artists—and became one herself that same year, offering her photography in-store.
A self-taught photographer with a keen eye and deep connection to her craft, Jax has been capturing the world through a lens since the age of six—before the digital age—starting with a small film camera and occasionally borrowing her dad’s prized Canon. Growing up in the 1970s, she spent summers traveling the East Coast in a motorhome with her family, visiting historical landmarks like Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower, Paul Revere’s house, and Gettysburg. While the trips were designed to be educational, her camera was never far from reach. For Jax, photographs have always been a way to preserve memories that last a lifetime.
In 2023, two of Jax’s photographs were selected from thousands of entries for the Mountlake Terrace Gallery Art Show, a proud milestone in her artistic passion project. Today, her love for photography continues with a focus on the natural beauty and historic charm of the Pacific Northwest. From flowers and volcanoes to ferry boats and trains, her images reflect a deep appreciation for the region. Each piece tells a story, often sparking nostalgia for longtime locals or offering visitors a meaningful connection to Washington that they can take home.
As the Bellevue store manager, Jax continues to share her artistic vision while championing the creativity of fellow makers. Her prints—some now available online—are more than beautiful images; they are lasting connections to place, memory, and the spirit of the region she calls home.
