Performance Gear By Hikers, For Hikers
With You Every Step Of The Way
From The Ground Up is a PNW based brand creating performance gear that gives back to protect our trails and public lands. FTGU was founded by Lake Stevens, Washington native Rami Nasr, who grew up a hiker and skier; and, for him, the mountains have always felt like home. One day, on a 3-day hike in the Cascades he noticed his feet starting to hurt, he took his boots off and realized that his socks had worn through and blisters were forming, making the rest of the hike unbearable. Upon his return he made it his mission to find better socks, but everything he found was either too hot, too itchy, or just plain ugly. His passion for outdoor sports and the environment inspired Rami to make the need for better hiking socks his project at the entrepreneurship program at the University of Washington. He spent months researching, sourcing and designing socks, culminating in their own blend of merino wool, called Incrediwool, that is a moisture wicking, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial material. FTGU socks are breathable, thermo-regulating, plus odor and blister resistant. After selling out of his first batch, he decided to take it full time after graduating in 2016.
Each sock features a different mountain from across Washington State all the way from Mount Baker to Mount Rainier, setting hikers apart with a more stylish and sustainable option. They are proud to source their merino wool socks sustainably without compromising quality it is RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certified. Their socks are also BlueSign Certified ensuring the highest standards of fair treatment of animals, lands and sustainability. Their packaging is also made from 100% recycled Kraft paper.
