Sue Griffith is the founder & creator of Bungalow Candle Studio in Spokane, WA. She started the business in 2021. At that time, she was working as a tax accountant, feeling frustrated in a field she was not excited about. She'd always loved being around creative people and dreamed of doing something that connected her to people in a creative way, but she didn't have the belief that she was creative. Then one day she made a few candles on her dining room table, and something happened to her. She just kept going with it. She began researching what makes a high-quality candle, sourced better essential oils, and learned which non-toxic fragrance oils are clean to burn. She learned that 100% soy wax is the pinnacle of clean burning (as is beeswax). Designing a label took her months because she was afraid it was too boring, and she got stuck. With determination, she just kept going and got over the design hump. Her next step was to test her products in a local farmers market. This gave her the confidence she needed, and in 2022 she left her tax job. Today, as her "Eco Luxury Soy Candles with Soul" business continues to develop and grow, she is grateful that she gets to wake up and create. She's in her 50s and believes it's never too late to find a purpose.
